Currently, Helen Keller International with iDE is implementing a suite of five lifesaving health services: supplementing women with essential vitamins and minerals during pregnancy, supporting optimal breastfeeding, improving diets for infants and young children, screening children for acute malnutrition and getting treatment to them as early as possible and, delivering vitamin A.  Our program, known as Transforming Lives through Nutrition, also drives complementary food systems actions that improve women’s diets, protect and promote diets of infants and young children and secure access to essential nutrients. Monitoring & Evaluation and Research regarding our program activities is essential to identify a Learning Agenda so we can continually iterate and improve our programming to maximize impact for the people we serve. The common thread of the internships is that the trainee will be based in the field where the program is active, and s/he will contribute to the learning agenda of the program.

Functional relationships
The trainees will be supervised by the Program Director. Throughout the internship, s/he will work closely with Helen Keller’s country and field office staff, and partner organizations, and may interact with program clients.

Representative Duties
Under the guidance of the Program Director and with support from the country team, the trainee will:
  • Contribute to implementing the program work plan and to monitoring its implementation.
  • Gather data; assist with compiling data and preparing reports.
  • Draft, edit, and layout reports.
  • Help organize meetings with stakeholders to guide project implementation.
  • Compile and edit information for dissemination events to facilitate knowledge sharing and document lessons learned.
  • Aid in advocacy efforts targeting various stakeholders by gathering evidence, documentation, etc.
  • Support engagement with government ministries, private sector entities, and other partners during program activities.
  • Organize meeting logistics; send out communications; take notes during meetings.
  • Prepare regular progress reports as required by Program Director.
  • Travel to support field activities as required.
  • Undertake other tasks assigned.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
  • Master’s degree in nutrition, public health, nursing, data science or related fields.
  • Recently graduated and currently not employed at any organization.
  • Academic experience gathering and/or analyzing data for research projects, and communicating results, is essential.
  • Solid organizational skills and reliable attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload, assume responsibility for work, and follow through to completion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively across cultures.
  • Proficiency in English language including ability to comprehend project documents; draft and edit routine business correspondence; and contribute to drafting and editing reports.
  • Highly computer literate including - knowledge of Microsoft office suite or equivalent, strong Excel skills, proficiency in statistical analysis using STATA or R, a strong advantage.
  • Experience laying out and formatting communications documents a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to work under pressure with a positive attitude as a part of a team.  
  • Collaborative, flexible and solution oriented.
  • Residents of Lumbini Province or interested in working in Lumbini Province.
  • Willingness to travel within the targeted communities.

Terms and Conditions
All travel and basic living costs will be covered by Helen Keller International. A small stipend will be provided as well.
